Find out what the purchase is for:

As for preventing charges, it will depend on how it occurred in the first place. Apple is not deducting money without authorization. For purchases on your device, it requires double clicking the side button with the amount showing on the screen, followed by verification with Face ID or Passcode. There are situations where that authorization could have occurred, such as:

  • Anyone that knows your passcode is authorized to make purchases on your device.
  • Anyone that knows your Apple ID Password can login to a device and make purchases.
  • If you authorized a free trial, that same authorization screen also shows the subscription price if you do not cancel the trial at least 24 hours before the trial period ends.
  • If you are the Organizer of a Family Plan using Purchase Sharing, then you have authorized other family members to make purchases.

Once you are able to see what was purchased, it may help you determine how it occurred, and then we can offer specific tools such as Screen Time restrictions or a Passcode change to prevent it from happening again.

What is the exact description of the charge you see on your bank statement?

Without it showing in your Purchase History, that indicates it is not a purchase managed by Apple. It may indicate your bank account information has been compromised. It would seem pretty poor customer service for your bank to simply tell you it is an Apple problem without investigating it. Certainly someone could have your account information and be making charges and that is a bank problem. In that case, it would require disputing the charge with your bank.

  • Are you the Organizer of a Family Plan? Those purchases would appear on their Apple ID.
  • If possible, provide a screenshot of both your purchase history and subscription. They should not contain any personal information.

I only ask for those screenshots since if you are not an Organizer and there is nothing showing in those screenshots, then it will require disputing the charge with your bank. If the charges are legitimate and do show in those screenshots, Apple will likely lock your account because that would indicate fraudulent activity on your account and I would not want that to happen to you.
