How can I resolve 'Finder Not Responding' due to stuck syncing devices on Mac?

My Mac shows 3 devices in the sidebar which have been "syncing" for days with no progress, and then the computer won't shut down because Finder is busy. How can I fix this?

To add to the questions, it sounds like you have a failed drive, device or process.

One way to unstick Finder and Applications that are Not Responding.

Go to Apple > Force Quit > select Finder > click Relaunch Finder.

Go to Apple > Force Quit > select the App > click Force Quit.

Another way is to hold the power button for 10 seconds or until the iMac shuts off.

Unplug all of connected drives and devices.

Then Startup the iMac.
