How do I add a second (new) Apple ID to my MacBook

I need to create a second Apple ID on my MacBook - how do I do that?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.3

Why?

What is the purpose of having a secondary Apple ID?

What are you looking to accomplish?


You can sign in to a different Apple ID for each Apple Service if you want to. App Store, iCloud, Messages, FaceTime.


If you sign out of a service and go back to sign in you should see an option to create a new Apple ID.

Same thing would be available if you create a new user account on your Mac. You should be prompted to sign in or create a new Apple ID at that time.


Alternatively, you can follow the steps in the support document linked below.
