Can I use same Apple ID on multiple Macs?

How do I change an Apple ID that is an obsolete email address on an older Apple iMac that I want to keep to my new Apple iMac with a different email address as my ID? In other words I will have the same email address Apple ID on both my old & new Mac's.

A couple of points

  • You cannot merge 2 Apple ID's
  • You can change an Apple ID email address to another email that is not currently an Apple ID

Change your Apple ID - Apple Support

  • The 2 devices can have the same Apple ID
  • You will need the password of the old Apple ID to be able to sign out on that Mac. It does not matter if the email is obsolete.

I couldn't quite grasp what issue you were encountering, but there is no problem using the same Apple ID on both of your Macs.
