Unable to log into iMac after resetting password

I locked my account up because caps key was on when entering password. I reset my password, can log into account on iPhone & iPad but iMac still is locked. Every time I try again to log on, the wait time increases. How do I get into my iMac?!

The Apple Account (Apple ID) password is not the same password that you would enter on your Mac to login after a restart – unless you deliberately set it to be the same string of characters.

Apple can tell you that you've changed your Apple Account password, but they cannot tell you anything about changing the device password that you set for your Mac, iPhone or iPad, which are independent of each other, btw.

You should follow the guidance for resetting your Mac login password found at the link posted earlier by @den.thed.

According to the email from Apple Support, I *did* successfully reset my password using my iPad. But while I can use both my iPad & iPhone, my iMac is still locked. I reset my account password a second time, but the Mac is still locked. Each time I turn it off, restart it and try the new password it says it’s locked and to try again in 3 hours. It would be really great if a live person responds … apparently AI just picks up key words and responds to what it thinks I might possibly maybe said. To sum up, I have reset my password, that is not the problem.
