Restore T2 Macbook Pro
Hello
I am trying to use DFU mode to restore a MacBook Pro with a T2 security chip. When the Apple Configurator attempts to install the system, it reaches a little over a third of the way along the progress bar and stalls out. After a minute or two the T2 machine reverts to internet recovery. This ends with a 2003F error message and the machine running Apple Configurator generates a message to say that it has given up waiting for the T2 machine to change from recovery to bootable mode.
I am aware that there is an issue surrounding the correct choice of USB cable for this operation, but I have been using the cable which came with the power adapter of the T2 machine and I think this is the correct cable.
Is there anything I can do to get the machine running myself, or would I have to take it to an authorized repairer?
There are two other points which may be relevant:
- In the preceding six months or so prior to trying to restore the T2 MacBook Pro, it was exhibiting problematic battery behavior - large swings in percentage charge between turning it off and on again over night. This was even though the battery still had over 80% life remaining. I tried resolving this by resetting the NVRAM and SMC settings - initially with success. But latterly not.
- I can see from the storage settings on the MacBook Pro running Apple Configurator that the files which are downloaded in order to restore the T2 machine are IOS 9.3 files. Is this correct? Is Apple Configurator recognizing the target computer as a computer?
