The past couple days some of my files wouldn’t open despite being downloaded and in the files app of my iPad. Today, 20+ disappeared. They aren’t in recenter deleted or nothing, they’re gone. What do I do to get them back? Also I recently broke the screen of my iPad and got it replaced, does this have anything to do with my files disappearing?

If you have a pre-existing backup of your iPad, the backup can be restored to your iPad. If you don't have a backup, any missing files will have been irretrievably lost.

Your iPad has an encrypted filesystem - the only copy of the encryption keys, required to access the data, being stored within the iPad's Secure Enclave (the iPad security chip). By design, the Secure Enclave os automatically erased in certain circumstances - such as disconnecting key components of the iPad hardware.
