Unable to verify phone number in WhatsApp after transfer to new iPhone 16
There was a thread on this issue with iPhone 15 last year and here we are in 2025 and this remains a problem without a solution from numerous searches.
Upgraded to new iPhone 16 and no longer have old phone which was turned in.
Request in WhatsApp to verify the number and neither text nor a phone call arrives. Do not have email attached to account to recover.
What I have done:
- Delete and reinstall the application
- Reset phone network connection
- Restart the phone
- operating system update (IOS)
- Swap SIM card
- Restart the iPhone
- reset the modem and wifi network
- Erase the phone and upload an older update
I’ve also tried without success:
- disabling WIFI, enabled data roaming, disabled messages and requested the code
- using another phone and changing their WhatsApp account phone number to my phone number, hoping for a code to arrive without success.
- tried WhatsApp for business
- tried using a VPN
SO:
- SMS work but whatsApp messages do not arrive
- the wifi network works
- the data works
- the phone's operating system is up to date
- the SIM card is active with the correct telephone number. This is not a prepaid account
- the number entered is the full international number
- the code sent by WhatsApp system (by telephone call) does not work. It says: system not available. And the wait for a new code is each time longer. Now I have to wait 24h to ask for a new call
T-Mobile has verified there’s no issue with my account and I receive SMS verification from other parties.
I used another phone to log an issue with WhatsApp and without the email recovery, they require phone verification for app to operate and say there’s nothing they can do on their end.
