How do I update apps on iPhone with an old email password?

this happened after phone did a auto update

You need to provide the password for the Apple ID that was used to download said Apps.

Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to download them, if for some reason you have lost access to that Apple ID and cannot recover it, then you will need to delete the associated Apps and redownload them again with your current Apple ID.
