App Store prompts for old email password when downloading apps on updated iPhone

I updated my phone and need to download all my apps, but the App Store will not let me download apps to my phone. It keeps asking for a password to my iTunes using a email I no longer have access to.

Those apps were downloaded with that previous Apple Account. All apps are linked to the Apple Account used to download them and they cannot be updated with providing the credentials of that account. When you sign out of an account on your device the apps are not removed and will remain. If you sign in with another account, it does not transfer ownership of those apps to the new user to allow them to be updated with the new account credentials.

You will need to delete those apps, then they can be downloaded with the new Apple Account. Be aware any data stored with those apps will be deleted.

That suggests you have apps that were downloaded with a different Apple account than the one currently logged into the phone.

It's not asking for the email password, it just wants the Apple Account password that is using that email. There's no link to the email and it does not matter if its no longer valid as its not going to go verify it.

If you don't remember the password for the old Apple ID, then you will need to use Apple's iforgot service to try to reset it. You may need to contact Apple Support directly and use Account Recovery to reset the password since you no longer have access to the email account that Apple account is using to get the reset emails.
