iMac M4 Screen Glow

Dear Apple Community, I have been using Apple computers for about 10 years and have always been happy with them. Recently, I decided to upgrade my old 2019 iMac to the new iMac M4. And right after the purchase, I noticed a strange glow on the screen of the new iMac M4. This glow changes depending on the viewing angle. And it is present almost always. Especially noticeable on dark colors. It literally looks like if you look at the screen from above, the image seems to be covered with a white fog. Also, the white color looks a little dirty on the screen. My old iMac does not have this. And other Apple devices that I use do not have this either. Is this such a new technology? To be honest, I do not even know who to ask about this, a Google search did not give much result, so I am writing here. The store where I bought the iMac said that no defects were found with the screen. But it looks like this is not normal at all. I'm attaching photos and video (https://youtu.be/x5cydUwGD2I). Is it the same on your new iMacs?

If you are within the 14 day return window, then you can return the iMac for a full refund no questions asked.

If not, then you need to schedule an appointment at your local Apple Service Provider.

If you did not purchase directly from Apple. you are bound by the resellers sales policies. However you can take it to another Apple Authorized Service Provider, please click the Support link in the upper right of this page to begin finding one. You can also call AppleCare who can help you locate one.

AppleCare Contact Info

Because you did not purchase directly from Apple the computer is covered by its original 1 year warranty, however Apple cannot honor any returns as you did not buy it from them. You also may have consumer laws in Russia that protect you, as this is an international forum we cannot advise you about who or how to contact to investigate that option.

Thanks for the answer! I am from Russia and even with an official warranty from Apple, I do not have the right to even contact them in the chat and talk in English. At least, this is what I have recently learned. I can only read articles with general answers to questions. Therefore, in these questions about the product, I can only deal with a local supplier. This is a large store and they sent the computer to a service center specializing in Apple computers. And this service center said that the screen is fine and they cannot reproduce this glow in their tests. Honestly, it looks like they do not want to admit that the product is defective and exchange the product or return the money.

Sorry to hear that you are not getting good support from the local supplier or service center.

At this point, it sounds like your options are:

1) Hide and ignore the issue by using multi colored desktop images instead of solid black & white.

2) Sell that iMac and buy something different like a Mac mini and an aftermarket external display.
