Nothing happens really, except you let them know you're a real person and they may attempt to contact you again. No, they can't get information from you, unless you share information with them. What I'd do is block them immediately. Open the message. Tap the number at the top. Tap Info. Scan down to the bottom and tap Block, then confirm.

A. Using the App Called Bouncer:

For text messages, there is an app called Bouncer, which block messages out by keywords. But, if these are not text messages, then is would not be an option. Here is the link: Bouncer: Text Messages Blocker 4+ - App Store

B. Use Malwarebytes Mobile Security:
