I personally don’t recommend this. Have attempted to do this with VMWare Fusion on a M4 Mac, able to work on simple parts but once you have slightly bigger assembly or parts with moderate number of patterns and/or surfaces, it became almost unworkable, kind of like remote desktop to a low cost PC that runs Solidworks over the internet.
Suggest to buy a cheap PC (desktop or laptop) with Intel 12th gen and above (or equivalent) + 16Gb RAM. It would most likely perform much better than your Mac option, even with intergraded GPU. Solidworks running on a workstation PC like Dell Precision in the same price bracket as a M3/M4 Pro Mac can just accept almost anything you can throw at it. I’m simply sharing from my own experience.
