Can't set up Apple Pay on Mac Mini M2 without TouchID

Before I upgraded from an Intel Mac Mini to my current Mac Mini M2, I could use Apple Pay on my Mac, approving purchases with my Apple Watch or iPhone. On my M2, it won't even let me set up any credit cards without a TouchID keyboard. Frankly, the Apple keyboards that include TouchID are expensive with a key action far inferior to products available from other vendors at half the cost - like the Logitech MX Keys that I use. Is there no way to bypass the TouchID requirement?

Mac mini, macOS 15.3

Apparently turning Allow Payments on Mac on and off fixed it. Just went to a site that I know accepts Apple Pay, put something in my cart, then went to check out. Clicking Apple Pay triggered my watch! Thanks!

That ends that discussion. Here’s what I have my wife do, shop using her Mac, enjoy the big screen etc. and put purchases in the shopping cart.

Open iPhone, log into merchant site, either website or mobile app, and load shopping cart and checkout using Apple Pay. That’s a whole lot cheaper than a keyboard you don’t like.

Just for the record, the biometric authentication is a bank requirement. It reduces fraud.
