How can I recover lost notes on my iPad?
I was typing a Note, then cut and copy to a newly named Note, doing it in two parts, but I lost the first part when doing the second. How do I recover that first part?

cut deletes the original source, you can use copy paste from the destination back to the original source if you wish the data to be there once more.
