Why is my iPhone always locked? How to keep the iPhone unlocked when it's around me.

Why am I being bugged to unlock my device all the time. I'm bringing my iPhone from my house to my car, to my workplace, and every time I access it, it's locked. If I ask Siri a question, I'm constantly being asked to unlock my device. But I was around the device this whole time! Apple, can you please come up with a way that doesn't unnecessarily lock the phone all the time?

Here some scenarios:

When I leave my phone laying next to me on the desk, why does it ask me to unlock the phone, when I was right there the whole time? It should recognize my Apple Watch is still there, or the accelerometer movement, so it's safe to keep unlocked.

I'm even wearing my Apple Watch nearby. Why is Siri not recognizing that when the Apple Watch is nearby and I'm still being asked "You'll need to unlock your phone first"?

When I add my phone to CarPlay via a cable, why is it still asking me to unlock the iPhone after a while, even though the phone is not physically moved?

There are so many scenarios like these, where iPhone should be smarter about when to lock and when to keep it unlocked. Make it easier for me, please!

My Ask:

Add an "Auto" selection to the Auto-Lock setting to put it to automatic mode.

When Auto is selected, the iPhone recognizes movement and proximity to the user to minimize the time it needs to be locked. It could use your other Apple devices nearby to determine proximity and movement, such as Apple Watch, etc.

What do you all think?

Do you have a work exchange account installed on your phone?

What do I think? I think my device stays locked.

Kids and miscreants and other sources of mayhem all too often go on buying sprees, and sorting that out gets expensive and tedious. You might not have those sources of mayhem, but there’s no way to detect that remotely.

Is Face ID or Touch ID enabled here? That can make that auto-lock irrelevant. I barely notice Face ID is even active.

As for another setting that might be useful here: Settings > Siri (or Apple Intelligence & Siri) > Access on Lock Screen
