MacBook Air M1 admin password not accepted for software update

Dears. I have a problem for some time and I was ignoring it. but I believe I reach a time that I have to solve it.

I have MacBook Air M1 with MACOS Monterey version 12.3.1

I Have only one username which is Admin account. every thing is working fine, I am doing every thing on my computer.

but: when I go to software update I can see new OS is available. and every time I try to upgrade its showing me screen to enter admin password.

what every I did, its telling me wrong password. I restart the computer and I was able to use the same password, I do every thing with the same password.

but when ever I click on upgrade its telling me wrong password.

I tried the safe mode its the same problem.

I went to terminal and type: sudo softwareupdate -i -a -R

and enter the password its telling me: sudo: 4294967295: invalid value

which I dont know what dose it mean.

any one came cross with this? I saw many article, but none of them works for me.

regards.

That is interesting.

You are running macOS 12.3.1 The current version of Monterey is 12.7.6.

I think you should try to apply any Monterey updates that are available for your Mac. It may be there is a fix for this issue in one of those updates that you don't have yet. You will be applying updates not an upgrade at this point. You should find them listed at the bottom of the System Settings... > General > Software Updates page.

If you cannot apply the Monterey updates, then consider reinstalling macOS from recovery. This doesn't have to wipe your drive, it'll just lay down a fresh copy of macOS files, hopefully replacing any that are missing or corrupt.

As always, before you reinstall macOS, you should make sure you have your Time Machine or other data backup up to date.

You might go to System Settings... > Users & Groups and create a second user account with admin privileges. Use the same or different password for that account, it makes no difference.

Log out of your current user and login to the new user and initiate the upgrade from there.

As always, it is recommended that you have a current backup of your Mac before you proceed with an upgrade.

ok,

here is something very interesting.

I can create new username and password with admin privileges, when I restart the computer I can't login to the new account, however when I logged in to my old account, its working fine but I can't change the password for the new account, every time its giving me fail.

so, I deleted and create another one with different username and admin right.

still the same issue, I can't login so I deleted it.
