Disable creation of DS_STORE, etc on usb drives?
I love the Spotlight search function of Mac, except for one thing.
The moment a USB drive is inserted, or network drive is mapped, and I open it up in the Finder to view the contents, Spotlight's indexer poops out hundreds of 4KB hidden files called .DS_STORE, a hidden directory called Spotlight-V100, and more of those 4KB hidden files named ._EVERY_FILE_IN_EVERY_FOLDER. Some remnant of "resource forks" that predate APFS; Mac OS has had this behavior since version 10.x.
I maintain a Windows installation, just to be able to delete these files, from the USB drive I store music on and plug into my car. The hidden files, which have .MP3 extension, confuse the in-dash MP3 player.
I'm familiar with Terminal, is there anything I can do on my Mac to disable the creation of this stuff on removable drives?
