So in 2024, I went swimming and forgot to turn on he water lock. Fast forward 2025, and i got a new watch but if my daughter manages to fix it, she gets to keep it. Also, if she saves up to fix it she also gets the watch.

Water damage can not be fixed, getting the watch replaced by Apple is the only other option.

The Water Lock does not activate the water resistance, it is only used to expel the water from the microphone and speaker openings. The seals are behind those openings, and if they get older, they might lose their function and water will be able to get into the watch.
