Does powering off my iPhone daily affect battery health?

So my school is implementing phone free school stuff which means we have to put our phones in Yondr pouches. Today was my first day and I chose to power off my phone. The original battery percent was 98% and then when I opened the Yondr pouch, it was 92%. I will have to put my phone in the Yondr pouch everyday so my question is, Is powering off my phone everyday going to damage the battery (I have an iPhone 13). I used to have an iPhone 7 plus and I used to power off my phone everyday to the point it damaged. I then had to install a new battery which made it worse. So I'm just making sure.

No, turning off the phone didn't damage the battery on your previous phone. The battery just wore out.

You could leave the phone on while it's in the pouch. However, if the pouch blocks cellular signals, your phone's battery will drain a lot over the course of the day. That will age it far faster than turning it off.
