Why is my iPhone 15 Pro getting extremely hot and not charging fully overnight?

It's it actually hot to the touch? Or are you seeing a warning that says something like "Charging has paused to give the phone a chance to cool down?" I'm sorry I don't remember the exact wording of that notification. However, it doesn't mean the phone is overheating. It means that Optimized Battery Charging is doing what it's supposed to be doing. Depending on your settings, you may also have the phone set to stop charging at 80%.

Go to Settings>Battery>Charging and turn off Optimized Battery Charging and see if that makes a difference.

I don't know what 'extremely hot' means but while charging yes it will heat up. As for the wireless power adapter I'm not a fan of those. Try using a good quality wired power adapter such as from Apple and see if it helps.

I would definitely suggest you use an Apple or MFi-certified charging cable and adapter. Apple-certified charging cables have an authentication chip inside, which ensures best use with Apple products. Use of third-party charging accessories can cause issues, such as slow charging and overheating.

Also, as long as you don’t get a Charging on Hold or Temperature Warning Screen, you can continue to charge normally. In fact, it is normal for iPhones and about all other electronics to exert some kind of heat when charging. That is the Second Law of Thermodynamics.

IdrisSeabright, if your iPhone overheats when it is charging, it is “Charging on Hold”. If it overheats for daily use, it is a Temperature Warning screen.
