I tried to forward a document to an my email address but the document went gray and all of my data disappeared. I tried to find it in pages but can’t open it there either.

If your file is stored in iCloud, try checking the Recently Deleted folder. Another option is to check Pages' AutoSave feature. Open Pages, go to File > Revert To > Browse All Versions, and see if an earlier version of the document is available to recover. These are the most likely solutions to help you recover your file.
