I can’t log in to my desktop because my keyboard is no longer connected to the computer - so no way of typing the login password. How do i connect if I can’t login?

I assume you have a Bluetooth keyboard? Have you made sure it's charged?
Inexpensive wired keyboards and mice are readily available on Amazon. You can probably also pick one up at your local Best Buy or Staples (U.S.). I recommend always keeping one on hand for emergencies.
You can connect any USB keyboard to your Mac (desktop or laptop) to be able to type and login.
