How do I type a letter from my iPad and then print it.

To write the letter, you can use any number of apps including but not limited to Pages, Microsoft Word, even Notes if you don't need a lot of formatting features.

To print, you need to be near an AirPrint compatible printer. Just tap on the share icon, and then on Print. Then on Printer to find a compatible printer on the same Wi-fi network.
