M2 MacBook Air Touch ID not unlocking from lock screen I don't know when it started, by my M2 MacBook Air will no longer unlock any user account from the lock screen via Touch ID. What's weird is that Touch ID works perfectly fine for every other use. It even works fine on fast user switching. Just not from the lock screen. I know if you haven't used your Mac in a while, it requires the password. That's not what I'm talking about. If I lock the screen, it will immediately require password rather than Touch ID. I've also checked System Settings, and "Use Touch ID to unlock your Mac" is turned on. I've restarted. I'm fully up to date, macOS 26.3. Is anybody else experiencing this? Any ideas on what might help? Thanks!

Mac Touch ID not unlocking, works for autofill For some time now, it has been impossible to unlock the Mac using Touch ID. However, the Touch ID button itself is working properly. It is possible to use Touch ID for password autofill. Here is what has been attempted to resolve the issue: All fingerprints were deleted and then re-added. The Touch ID switch for unlocking the Mac was turned off and then back on after restarting the machine.

Is it normal for Touch ID to not work on MacBook Pro at startup and require a password instead? Touch on my 16in MB Pro M3 does not work when I start up the laptop. I have to type my password instead. Is this normal? [Re-Titled by Moderator] Original Title: Touch ID not working on start-up

Make sure that the Touch ID sensor is clean and not damaged and that your hands are clean and not wet.
