Mac Touch ID not unlocking, works for autofill

For some time now, it has been impossible to unlock the Mac using Touch ID. However, the Touch ID button itself is working properly. It is possible to use Touch ID for password autofill.

Here is what has been attempted to resolve the issue:

  • All fingerprints were deleted and then re-added.
  • The Touch ID switch for unlocking the Mac was turned off and then back on after restarting the machine.

If you still have an issue(?)

If you are using a "standard account"...

There is a bug after 26.3 update

—Log into your admin account and toggle Touch ID off and back on., Now log back into your standard accountant compare your results
