It keeps popping up when I’m on Words With Friends, even though I never gave permission for banner ads. That’s the only app where it keeps popping up frequently—multiple times an play—and seemingly randomly. Is the only solution to quit playing WWF?

Make sure you have entered trafficshield.xyz into the Never Allow section.

it sounds like you may have entered the website into the Always Allow section. (Unfortunately, my instructions did not explicitly indicate which section, and I am unable to edit them now.)

if you do see the website in the Always Allow section, swipe left, and tap Delete.

Is the actual website displaying on the screen, or do you get a message that it's a "restricted site"? It should be the latter. The "fix" that I posted will not prevent the attempt to display the website. That is a problem that Zynga (or whatever app developer) needs to address.

If your browser is actually opening the restricted site, that is a problem that needs to be addressed by Apple Support.

I went in to do this, but inadvertently typed in trafficshield under “Always Allow” instead of “Never Allow”… now can’t get rid of it under “Always Allow”. Can somebody help, please. Popping up many many times while playing Words with Friends.

The screen shot you posted is from Words with Friends and it will also come from any other app that uses the same Ad network. There are only about 8-9 ad companies that all apps use to provide ads for their apps and many of the same ads are sold to those ad companies. The same ad has also been seen on Zen Color as well.

If you close Safari with that page on the screen and open Safari again, it will open to that same page. You need to navigate away from that page or close the tab to remove it. The ad is going to have to be removed from the ad network that is providing it and the best way to get that done is to complain to the developer of the game. They get paid to present that ad to you, but without you playing their game, they will not get paid, so they have an interest to resolve the problem.

I have noticed this so much on many different game applications and such it is annoying. It doesn’t seem to matter which app you play on for games that contains the ads for them. Hopefully this is being reported to whoever controls that fixes it. It is going to be a major problem honestly I would say with it being on several applications which really makes this unsafe if someone does something wrong on that website. It does appear as threatseeker.xyz also as it does open the same way as trafficshield.xyz. Would recommend blocking both trafficshield.xyz along with threatseeker.xyz if you see them both.

Just like the rest here, my mother likes Word Serenity has the same issue as the rest.

Open's up browser's, say's here iPad is infected will fix click button, same XYZ website, has Web pages

open in the background etc... Will try what Debbie Ann said and if she still has trouble I will delete app.

This worked for me!

I blocked the site on my iPad by doing the following:

Settings

Screen Time

Content & Privacy Restrictions (turn it on, if it isn't On already)

App store, Media, Web & Games

Web Content

Limit Adult Websites

Add Website

Now type the following: https://trafficshield.xyz

(then tap Done)

You're right. The browser does keep popping up, but at least it does not open the URL. Better than nothing.

I did send a critical review as well as the 1 star rating. For almost all these games there is another version of the same thing out there. It's impressive how many ways there are to match three of something, or do a paint-by-numbers. If you don't like being spammed this way, you have the power. Tell the developer why and then just walk away!

Stay well.
