Screen Time old limits reappearing

I’ve been having problems with old limits refusing to go away on kids phone even after restarting and turning screen time off and on, and all the other troubleshooting tips. Two things I just tried seem to help:

  1. As mentioned in another thread, manually delete all limits, the create just one for a random website, apple.com for example 😊
  2. My son also has a MacBook and in the past had an iPad. Those were all listed in his screen time as separate devices. I turned off share across devices and that seemed to simplify things greatly.

These in combination with updating iOS and turning screen time off and back on helped me, I will update here if things change.

You have to make separate limits if you want different times to apply. That's another reason not to share across devices. If you have a limit for YouTube of 1 hour for the phone and 30m for the laptop and share across devices is on, you wind up with multiple limits which can't be a good thing.

I can't think of a reason to do sharing actually. The idea that time against a single limit is accumulated across devices just OK, and would be fine if it didn't lead to issues. Since I turned that off Screen Time has continued to be useful for me--I'm seeing less of the "ignore limit" issue and downtime is working.
