The keyboard functionally connects via Bluetooth with the host device.
To be absolutely clear, the keyboard's wired connection can only be used for charging.

Apple's Magic Keyboard for Mac uses a Bluetooth connection to the host computer or iPad. The cable is only used to periodically charge the keyboards internal battery from a suitable power source.
These are the Magic Keyboards you can connect via Bluetooth to your iPad 9th gen model:--> https://www.apple.com/shop/ipad/accessories/keyboards?f=ipad9gen2021&fh=35d5%2B5f1244

I understand that the cable is used for charging through the computer. That's what I already do periodically. But I want to travel with this keyboard and an IPad and would prefer to connect them with a cable if that's possible since Bluetooth isn't always reliable. I know I cannot use the charging cable since it doesn't have two lightening connectors, but I'm wondering if there are other cables I could use or a cable and an adaptor.
Thanks. I have one of these, so I'm glad to know it can be connected via Bluetooth.. But I'd also like to know whether it could be connected using a able rather than through Bluetooth.
OK, thanks for that information.
You're very welcome.
