I received a new macbook air and was able to get it going. I was then out of town for a few weeks. Now need to clear old macbook but cannot get past the password. Maybe it’s because i used the same one for the new mac? Help!

Mac user passwords are independent of each other, that is not the problem.
Start here to regain access to the old Mac:
