Macbook Pro Battery Overheating

13-in, 2017, two thunderbolt (three port) Macbook Pro. Has been overheating for years and now the battery lasts 30 minutes from 90%+ to 10%. I’ve taken it into Apple support but the battery health is considered “normal” which doesn’t qualify it for the $200 replacement. There is obviously an issue, I wonder if anybody else has had success in addressing this.

Everything else is in operation, cooling fans are intact.

30 minutes is definitely not normal. Not unless you're doing some unbelievably processor-intensive tasks. Does Activity Monitor indicate anything like that?

It's hard to conceive of anything you could do with a Mac that would deplete a fully charged battery in 30 minutes, even one that is at or near the 80% threshold at which Apple would replace it.

If you are unable to find anything that would explain that allegedly "normal" behaviour I would bring it back to Apple and ask them to explain it.
