Apple pencil no charge percent pencil not working

This is my second pencil and the same problem. After charging on the ipad pro for several days the apple pencil gen 2 still wont work. It shows connected but no percent of charge. I can see the banner when it connects but there is no percent telling me if its actually charged. No widget available connected but not working at all. If i forget and try to repair ipad does not see it. How can i get the charge percent or widget to be available? Is it charged or no?
