bizarre email address listed on ancestry.com profile

when i signed up for a 14-day trial on ancestry.com, i must've logged on through apple or something because my profile lists the following address: mx******x@privaterelay.appleid.com

i don't even know where to access such an address let alone get any emails i may be sent through ancestry. i want to change this address via ancestry but when i try to change to that from this apple one, it says the one i'm trying to replace it with is already in use. why am i being assigned an account that i don't even know where to access it?

i'm trying to verify this address but don't even know where to look for it.
