Using The Apple Pencil as stylus only.
I’ve seen this question asked multiple times but no real answers.
Apple also doesn’t let us reply to old posts so it is here.
I’m on Apple Airpad (M2) and using Apple Pencil Pro.
Actual ‘stylus only mode’ which would be great if Apple made this.
Even better, just create it to create as a shortcut you could setup if desired, to access by squeezing the apple pencil pro like the other shortcuts available.
- Go to home is currently an available shortcut.
- Switch between open apps is not currently a shortcut but it would be absolutely amazing if it was.
- Stylus mode and pencil mode would be also amazing.
I find myself wanting to use the pencil as a stylus and navigation tool FAR more often than needing it to write, which it is absolutely handy for. But, why cant we just switch modes when we want to?
Many times switching between apps, its working great as a stylus, then I switch and all of a sudden I’m drawing all over the screen.
CURRENT ‘SOLUTION’:
The best thing I’ve been able to do so far is in apple pencil settings, make sure the ‘Scribble’ setting is turned OFF. “Use apple pencil to handwrite in any text area to convert it into type.”
So far, this at least prevents me from scribbling all over emails and open text boxes on websites, and leaves it as a stylus most of the time….
