My banking app disappeared from my iPhone home screen
i tried reinstalling it from App Store - now I can only access it from the appstore

If you go to the App Store and it shows "Open" rather than "Get" in the download/buy button, that means that the app is already installed on your iPhone.
Have you checked to see if it is in the App Library? Go to the App Library (swipe left past your last Home Screen). From there you can touch and hold an app and slide it to the Home Screen.
