How do I connect a new MacBook to the internet and update Apple Account in Costa Rica?

Purchased a new laptop in the USA. Set up and used it. Noted Apple ID. Got on a plane and went to Costa Rica. Waited a couple of months to use the machine and now the Apple ID I noted isn't working. So I changed the Apple ID on my other devices per Apple instructions. Then it occurred to me that the new machine isn't connected to the internet in Costa Rica yet. It doesn't know the new Apple ID. Now what?
