In the Mac OS you can either use "command+F" to go to full screen or "command+shift+F". However, if you use "command+F" then the menu doc will still be visible but if you use "command+shift+F" the windows goes to full focus mode. To undo the effects use the same shortcuts.

FWIW, one switches to full screen and one maximizes. It should work with any browser and most apps.
