what ram for 2009 mac pro flashed from 4,1 to 5,1

For the 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 Apple recommends 4 (Quad-Core) or 8 (8-Core) - 240-pin PC3-8500 (1066MHz) DDR3 ECC SDRAM.

This is the RAM currently running my 2009 Mac Pro that was flashed from 4,1 to 5,1.

It's my understanding that if I install a pair of chips for a 2010 Mac Pro 5,1 in the las two empty slots, (the 5,1 runs on - 240-pin PC3-10600E (1333 MHz) DDR3 ECC SDRAM (memory speed for certain configurations is 1066 MHz) and use of 1333 chips would only run at 1066.

Can anyone recommend a 2x 8GB (total 16 GB) set of chips?

Would these work?

Apple only recommends what they had for sale and tested exhaustively before the machine was discontinued. Their published advice is extremely STALE.

RAM prices for this kind of RAM have declined dramatically. I suggest you re-evaluate ALL your assumptions.

How much RAM do you have now, in what configuration?

Do you have a Dual-chip machine? That has four slots on each side.

What processor or processors are in your machine NOW, and are you ever considering an upgrade at any time in the future?

There is LOTS to talk about.
