Photos app on my MacBook Air refuses to acknowledge my iPhone

Just updated to sequoia - and now photos refuses to acknowledge my iPhone. I get to the options screen, then can’t do anything. I go for file then import, and though my iPhone is visible in the finder section, it’s invisible to the photos app. What the?? You can’t plug a phone into a laptop and transfer photos now?

Whats in the View option... do you have Library?

Do you have sidebar? This is typically where your iPhone would show up — here you can import selected photos

ref: Photos User Guide for Mac

Have you ever open that Photos.app before do you have Library of existing photos on your Mac?

If you do not see your Library quit Photos.app and relaunch it holding the Option key down and select from the list...
