How do I know if the MagSafe Charger is charging my iPhone?

I just wasted an hour on Apple Support Chat so hopefully someone here can answer my question because they couldn’t.

Does the MagSafe Charger (which came w/ the unremovable cord attached to the magnet which I plug in to a power adapter) supposed to light up, show a charging lightning bolt, charging percentage on the charger, or show any indicator that the charger is charging? How am I supposed to know that the charger is charged so I can then attach it to my iPhone? Do I need a charging stand or anything additional to charge the charger? If so, what?

I have wireless chargers & whenever I’ve plugged them in the charger would light up, let me know it’s charging, & show the charging percentage but the MagSafe Charger is not doing this.

Any help would be much appreciated!

If you look at the battery icon on your iPhone, it would display the battery charging symbol when the phone is charging. This should be true whatever "charger" you use with your phone.

However, if you have an iPhone X, the Apple MagSafe charger is not designed to work with it as MagSafe wireless charging did not become available until the iPhone 12 model.
