How can I remove activation lock on my MacBook Air recently bought from a friend?

I got a MacBook from a friend that got locked out and can’t even get back into it himself so he just bought another computer. Is there anyway I can get the activation lock off of my MacBook so I’m able to use it

Take the MacBook back to your friend, and ask them to unlock it, and complete the steps in this Support article before returning the MacBook to you.

You can ask your friend to log into iCloud via a web browser from a different computer to remove the activation lock remotely

A. Have your friend log in with their Apple account to http://www.iCloud.com on any computer.

B. Go to Find My

C. Find the MacBook Air and click on "Remove from Account".

This should remove the activation lock. After that, you can reboot the MacBook Air, connect to Wi-Fi, and set it up with your own Apple account.
