How to address allergic reaction to Apple Watch strap?

Hello, unfortunately I had an allergic reaction to the fabric of the watch strap. This has never happened to me before. Now I'm going to see an allergist and a dermatologist. Where the watch strap comes into contact with my skin, my skin thickens in a red band and tiny red dots appear that are very itchy!

I've used an Apple Watch 7 for three years now. Bought it with the segmented metal strap which I found too small besides being uncomfortable so I switched to a silicone sport loop.

I've noticed similar discoloration as you've described though I routinely wipe the strap off with rubbing alcohol to reduce bacterial contamination from skin debris and environmental contaminants. I also make it a practice to switch wrists periodically, give the skin underneath my watch and band time to 'recover' from the presence of the foreign object.

I'll be curious to read when you report back about what your dermatologist tells you about what you're experiencing.
