I plugged in my cd player directly to my new iMac 24 and it will not recognize it. Trying to download photos on cd. Please help.

A usb-c drive should work. I just used a generic one the other day.
So, what format are these CD's in?
You have to insert a CD before it shows up in the finder.
What CD drive are you using? Some require more power than others but most should work.
