iPhone 16 Pro Passcode Failure Causing System Crash
Last night, my girlfriend’s iPhone 16 Pro became completely inaccessible after attempting to add the Shanghai Transit Card to Apple Wallet. The system unexpectedly required her to set a new passcode. After entering the original passcode, it prompted her to create a different one. However, once set, the device rejected both the new and original passcodes, leading to an eight-hour lockout.
With no way to authenticate, the only solution provided was a full reset, resulting in total data loss due to the absence of an iCloud backup.
This is a serious security flaw—why does the system prioritize a failed passcode change over alternative authentication methods like Apple ID or Face ID? A simple Wallet action should not cause a device to lock up permanently.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? Are there any alternative solutions to regain access without a full reset?
Thank you.
