Why did my iPhone stop automatically activating Low Power Mode?

Has there ever been a resolution to the low power mode problem? I know it used to automatically show up on my phone, but the latest update seems to have taken it away. Drives me insane because I tend to not pay attention and before I know it i’m on 6% an unable to recharge. I never get any kind of suggestion or reminder that the battery is low. I hope they fix this issue.
