What is the grey box which covers my typing on Facebook. This has started since Apple gave Starmer permission to snoop

This is what happens when you don't take the time to read past the first post. Had you done so, you'd already know that all you have to do is update the Facebook app as Meta, the parent company of Facebook acknowledged the issue and issued an app update last week, which fixes this.

Yep! Just doing a search to see if it was happening to anyone else, and clearly it OS! Didn't start happening until I did the **** update the other day!

Just started happening to me today when I’m on Facebook. I’m in the US. It’s so annoying. I tried restarting my phone but it didn’t help.
I have that same grey box over my comments on Facebook and it just started last week. I want to know what it is and get rid of it. It is annoying

Dear Apple - please fix this ridiculous “fix” you’ve provided. We don’t want it, didn’t ask for it, and find it annoying.
Someone replied to me earlier saying it’s a facebook problem, which makes sense of course. Trying to get an answer through FB is challenging. That’s what I’m doing rn , so who knows.
I also have been getting the gray box, but only on Facebook. It gets larger as I type. Only on iPhone 12 that I have noticed. Also in what used to be the USA.
I’m seeing this on both my iPad and iPhone. In addition I’m seeing it not only on Facebook but also X and Bluesky. Is Apple doing anything to correct this?
I only see it when using my iMac (running OS 11.7.10) but not on my iPhone 12. Some have stated the gray rectangle is transparent but mine is opaque.
