Why is Apple TV not recognizing my Paramount + subscription

Ok... I'm stumped.


I just subscribed to Paramount + on my iMac through the App Store. No problems there. When I download the Paramount App on my Apple TV and on my iPhone and try to sign in (restore from iTunes purchase) it gives me a "Restore failed... no account found". It's right there on my subscriptions page on in my System Preferences. What gives??

Use of the stand alone "Paramount +" app is only for if you subscribed directly through "Paramount +" (signed up on their website). I signed up directly through Paramount + and I am able to use the stand along app using the login I created when I signed up with Paramount +.


I originally subscribed to Paramount + through the "Apple TV" app a few years ago but I no longer do because I prefer to use the separate "Paramount +" app.

Thank you MacRevisited. I appreciate the response. After about an hour of frustration, I think I figured it out on my end. I discontinued my subscription that I set up though my iMac and set up a subscription from the App on my Apple TV. All good now. I have no idea if I can watch Paramount on my iMac at this point but I never do that anyway so I'm not even going to try. I'll only watch it on my TV thru Apple TV, so all ok! It's odd that some Apps (Hulu for instance) that I set up on my computer allow me to watch it on my Apple TV but Paramount doesn't. I don't get it but nothing new there when it comes to technology. Anyway... thanks again for take the time to respond.

Just to avoid confusion, there is no Paramount app available on iMac, you had signed up directly in the Apple TV app (which are called Apple TV channels). So that subscription would have been available in the same app via the Apple TV box.


Hulu does not offer an Apple TV channel, signing up to that service on their website on computer will allow access using the same credentials on the Hulu app on the Apple TV box.


When you use the Paramount Plus app on Apple TV after having subscribed in Apple's app it will not work unless you choose to sign in with provider, which will give the option to select Apple TV app and sign in with your Apple account.


Alternatively, you can sign up directly with Paramount using their app (on Apple TV box or other mobile devices), which it sounds like that is what you have now done. The restore option is for when a user has restarted a subscription with Paramount directly but used their Apple account for billing.
