Apple TV (4K version 3) Remote won’t turn on Samsung TV when TV has been off a long time

Apple TV (4K version 3) Remote won’t turn on Samsung TV Model S95D when TV has been off a long time.

If off for just a short time, zero problems.

FYI Samsung TV Remote works 100%.

Have removed all time dependent turn off settings on Samsung TV. Have set the time dependent Apple setting to 15 minutes. So, any turn off commands come from Apple, not Samsung.

According to my research, this problem is experienced by many with Samsung and LG TVs.

i am not trying to throw daggers, but in truth my trouble shooting skills do seem to point to ATV.

What I am doing is trying to eliminate the error.

Again, I don’t want to argue with anyone - I just want this problem to go away. I have spent a boatload of $$ on the ATV and the Samsung. The axiomatic “It just works” doesn’t hold here.

After long time, SOLVED!

Technically Samsung caused problem *because* when the 95D TV turned off, it also turned the CEC/Anynet+ off.

Duh!

So now the Siri Remote couldn’t communicate with TV over the HDMI cable. Or any other non-Samsung remote for that matter.

No CEC -> no turn on of TV.

FWIW the Samsung Remote always worked because their remote communicated directly with their TV via Infared and never used CEC. Their use of CEC/Anynet+ came into focus after their TV was on at which time their TV sent a turn on signal to the Apple TV device.

So what did the Apple ATV programmers do to correct this problem? = they 1st sent a CEC turn on signal to TV before relaying the turn on signal from the Siri Remote.

HOORAH!!

You know what -

I have to loudly shout praise for Apple Engineering because I know with certainty that they are trying to diagnose this problem.

The total opposite from Samsung with whom I have talked on the phone. In fact there are a whole bunch of folk who own the Samsung S95D with the above deep sleep problem.

These customers state they have reported this problem to Samsung. Yet Samsung claims they have zero reports on this issue.

?????

We’re talking their flagship model whose sales drive their company wide bottom line and to ignore this problem is a marketing disaster in the making.

Makes zero sense to me
