How do I fix 'cannot connect to www' after reinstalling macOS 10.7.5 on an old MacBook Air?

I forgot my password for my old MacBook air. I wiped the disc and reinstalled mac os x. updated the software to version 10.7.5. I connected to our wifi connection but when trying to search via Safari or going to the iTunes store I get a message that I should check my connection. Help!!!

Any version of a browser that can run in the obsolete Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is too old to connect to websites today that use modern internet security. The old software does not understand the new protocols.


If you'll tell us exactly which model year that MacBook Air is, then someone may be able to suggest ways to move forward. Or not. If the MBA is a mid-2012 machine you may be able to coax it into running 10.15 Catalina. But that's as far as it will go.
