Can't activate blood oxygen on Apple Watch Series 10 outside the US

If the US Watch model number ends in LW/A and not LL/A, it doesn’t have oximetry available.

Per Apple: The ability to measure Blood Oxygen is no longer available on Apple Watch units sold by Apple in the United States on or after January 18, 2024. These are indicated with part numbers ending in LW/A.

Whether or if that (lack of) oximetry might (or even could) change in the future, nobody here knows.

The U.S. model number is used by watchOS to disable the oxygen sensor, not your location.

The ban was on the import of Apple Watches into the U.S. Taking the Apple Watch out of the U.S. on your wrist is not going to change the model number.

It is up to where the watch was purchased (the country).

If you want it to work you must purchase a watch outside of the US.

But if you do other features that are country specific that you wish to use may not available even those on future updates.

Your watch purchased in the USA has the sensors but they are software locked by Apple because of legal issues.
